Tomato Soup

A grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup has always been one of my favorite meals. The other night I decided it would be a yummy dinner but instead of opening a can of soup I thought an attempt to make homemade tomato soup was necessary. It was decided to use the Pure Cream of Tomato Soup found on Epicurious.com. The only change to the recipe was that we did not strain the soup and left the chunks of tomatoes and onions in it which was a good decision. It was delicious and I heard was even better re-heated a few days later.

Salt Lake City Half Marathon

On Thanksgiving morning Matt and I ran in the Cottonwood Heights Thanksgiving 5k. We were chatting before the race and Matt said that I should run in the Salt Lake City half marathon with him. I did not even hesitate before I agreed to this plan. YIKES! The race is on Saturday, April 17th so I have enough time to train but I will have to step things up. I am nervous but excited at the same time. I have done some research online and have found a training program to get me ready. Wish me luck!!

Gala Centerpieces

For the gorgeous Gala centerpeices I once again worked with Every Blooming Thing. They are an amazing local florist who always impresses me with their work. They were a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend them for any of your floral needs. I only wish my photos did the centerpieces justice. I wish I took a few photos with the lights low and the candles lit but I had to grab a few before the event began.

Ballet West Gala

Last weekend was the annual Ballet West Gala. It is a black tie invited event which is the largest event of the year for the ballet and I am responsible for planning it. The event begins with an exclusive one hour performance at the Capitol Theatre with a dessert reception afterwards for the performance only ticket holders. Those with Gala Event tickets were shuttled over to the Grand America Hotel after the performance for a social hour and then dinner and dancing with the Ballet West Artists. It is a beautiful evening. I start working on this event in the Spring with my Gala Committee so it is exciting when it is finally here. So far the feedback I have heard from the guests has been very positive and the evening ran pretty smoothly. We booked a new band this year and it turned out to be a great decision because the dance floor was packed. It makes me happy to see people having a good time.

Candy Bar

I have noticed candy bars have become a fun trend at events. Guests are invited to scoop some sweet treats into a bag as they leave for a tasty gift. I am going to be doing a candy bar for Hollie's baby shower with fun pink candy. Below is a photo of a candy bar that I found online so you can picture what I am talking about. It is going to be a cute touch to the shower!
